602: Receive quotes for HVAC units from Brecke Mechanical - Exhibit 602.1 & 602.2

MOTION to approve the quote for a 2-ton mini split unit in the choir room for $12,580 and a 3-ton mini split unit for the HS Kitchen for $14,580.

These areas were not included in the HVAC upgrades completed in 2022. The choir room mainly needs the unit for heat, but it will be nice to keep it cooled early in the school year. The HS kitchen is very warm every day, but especially during the early and late parts of the school year. We would use some of the remaining bond funds to pay for these units.

 

603: Receive General Fund Transfer to Activity for Safety Equipment - Exhibit 603.1

MOTION to approve the transfer of $2,989.50 from the General Fund to the Student Activity Fund for protective and safety equipment.

The MS football team is in need of 7 new football helmets. The current equipment was evaluated and there were several helmets that we cannot recondition to a level of safety appropriate for our student athletes. Helmets are $465 each with $199.50 shipping costs. We are asking for $2,989.50 from the general fund for these helmets. The MS fund is going to pay the $1,200 it will cost to purchase the youth helmets that were unable to be refurbished.

Iowa school districts are required to develop and maintain a LAU Plan that describes how the district identifies, assesses, places, serves, monitors, and exits students who qualify for English Learner (EL) services in accordance with federal civil rights requirements and Iowa Department of Education guidance. The district's procedures for identifying students and delivering EL services have not changed. The only revisions to this year's plan are updates to reflect current staff serving on the district's EL team. We are asking for approval to implement the updated plan.

 

605: Annual Review of District Emergency Operations Plan - Exhibit 605.1 (ATTACHED TO EMAIL)

Iowa Code Section 280.30 requires school districts to develop, review, and update a high-quality Emergency Operations Plan on an annual basis. The Board of Directors is responsible for reviewing the plan annually. The district collaborates with local emergency management coordinators and law enforcement partners in the development and review of the plan. The Board of Directors has reviewed the updated Emergency Operations Plan for the 2026-2027 school year. The Emergency Operations Plan is confidential and is not subject to public disclosure.
