On behalf of fellow Board members, at this time I would like to invite any member of the audience (who have contacted the Superintendent at least five days before this meeting) to speak with comments about items of interest or concern that do not appear on tonight’s agenda.  Please begin by stating your name and address.  It would be appreciated if you would limit your comments to 5 minutes so we can keep the meeting moving in a timely fashion and allow others an opportunity to address other issues of importance to them.  We ask you to remember that Iowa law prohibits us from discussing specific employees or their job performance. It is important to remember that any statements made can jeopardize the Board and any future action that could be taken relating to personnel by the Board and jeopardize the individual making the statement.  Any concerns relating to personnel must be taken to administration and under law the Board only acts on recommendations from administration.   Thanks for your support of our school district.

Paw Partners:
The Paw Partners mentorship program continues to be a positive addition to our district. We currently have six classrooms participating, and the feedback so far has highlighted strong connections forming between mentors (Big Lynx) and elementary students (Little Lynx). As we enter the second semester, we look forward to gathering more structured feedback and making small adjustments that will allow us to support additional students and further strengthen relationships across the building.

Holiday Celebration:
Our annual holiday celebration was a great success, featuring a magician at the Coggon Opera House sponsored by the Coggon Library. Students in grades PK–8 enjoyed an engaging and high-quality performance that brought a lot of excitement to the day. A special thank you goes to Counselor Sarah Meyer for her extensive planning and coordination to make this event possible.

Individualized Student Plans:
Staff continue to make steady progress on the state-required Math and Reading Individual Plans for students. Our most recent Professional Development days have been dedicated to "Intervention Analysis", giving teachers time to review data, refine intervention strategies, and make necessary adjustments to better support the specific needs within their classrooms. This focus ensures we are providing targeted and effective instruction for all learners.

The School Board Review Committee’s (SBRC) Modified Allowable Growth (MAG) for returning dropouts and dropout prevention programs is a means of raising funds to support our local programs, services and personnel to assist our at-risk students K-12. These funds are used to help offset costs associated with our district guidance counselors, supplies for our at-risk students, and skills group time for our elementary students.  In order to continue these supports for our at-risk population, I am requesting that the Directors approve our Modified Allowable Growth (MAG) for FY27.

Before January 15th, the district will need to complete a budget dropout prevention services requested for state approval.  Kerry and I will meet to complete and submit this application.  The maximum amount we can ask for is $112,038.
